ABOUT US
OUR OWNER / LEAD SONOGRAPHER
Jessie Webster, owner, founder, and Lead Sonographer of Superior Mobile Diagnostics has vast experience in the hospital and radiology setting. She graduated from Marquette General’s School of Radiography in 2007 and has spent her career at Munising Memorial Hospital doing all things Radiology. Jess started working at Munising Memorial as a Radiographer in 2005. At that point, she was doing CT, General X-ray, and Bone Densitometry. Jessie is a lifelong, motivated learner, trained to do mammography at MTMI in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and became a certified Mammographer and the Lead Supervisory Mammogapher for 19 years, handling all policies, procedures, and MQSA inspections. While maintaining her then-current credentials and responsibilities, she trained in Ultrasound, attending the Gulf Coast Institute in Clearwater, Florida, and many Edelman training sessions. Although doing ultrasound for many years, she was officially certified in general ultrasound through the American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Accreditation body (RDMS) in 2011 and then later, Certified in Vascular Ultrasound to obtain her Registration in vascular technology. Well trained in almost all Ultrasounds, Jessie, being the only sonographer at MMH, has made a point to learn as many ultrasound examinations as possible to be valuable to the community's needs. She currently still holds all her credentials RT ( R ) ( B ), RDMS ( B ), and RVT. Not only does Jessie enjoy learning but she also enjoys teaching. She has been the Northern Michigan University student advisor for Munising Memorial since the program was transferred from Marquette General School of Radiography.
Around 2011, Jessie began writing grants for the hospital because she believed it was important for the little town of Munising, Michigan, to have the same opportunity to modern medical technology as any large city. She has successfully obtained over $600K in grant awards to update Mammography machines, Ultrasound Equipment, Laboratory Analyzers, Mobile X-ray Equipment, and her most recent award in 2022, funds to purchase a CT scanner. In addition, Jess has noticed the great need for available ultrasound services in the Marquette, Michigan Region, as many of her patients have traveled over 60 miles to get ultrasound services in Munising and this drive can be treacherous to make on many U.P. winter days. So, Jessie began researching and working with business consultants to open a Mobile Ultrasound company to help meet the needs for services in Marquette, Michigan and ensure that the business properly conforms to all Federal Healthcare Laws so that she can commute to them.
In Jessie’s free time, she enjoys hanging out with her family, boating on Lake Superior, or going to their camp on Thunder Lake near Manistique, MI. Jessie has been married to her husband, also named Jesse, for 17 years. They have three teenagers and “a bonus teen daughter” still at home who are now at the age to take care of themselves, abling Jessie to have a career that is not so close to home. Her family is avid skiers and loves to ski in the Rocky Mountains every February. Jess admits she's been skiing most of her life and still puts her checkmark on the box for “beginners”. “The Jesses,” as they are also often referred to around their small community, have a couple of small businesses in the Munising area, where they allow their teenagers to work and learn the ways of entrepreneurship.
If Superior Mobile Diagnostics goes as intended, Jess may someday expand her business by hiring additional sonographers, offering other in-office diagnostic tests, or broadening the area she provides service to.
